Attention: Current Safety Clients

Again this season, Kimber and Tucker have several announcements. Please take a few minutes to review the following, initiated as part of our continued commitment to effectively coordinate your safety program.

New Staff:
We wish to announce the additions of Alvin Gallant (New Brunswick) and Robin Clark (Nova Scotia) to our team of Coordinators. Both are accomplished and dedicated safety professionals. Alvin is fluently bilingual with a wide variety of experience and training in the safety field. Robin has a solid background in Occupational Health and Safety, emergency management, safety consulting, coaching and compliance for industry and various levels of Government.

Rate Increase:
As per our Winter Newsletter, we withheld cost of living rate increases normally instituted on January 1, 2013 until July 1, 2013. The published Statistics Canada cost of living increases per province are 1.8% (Nova Scotia), 0.7% (New Brunswick), and 1.2% (PEI). These increases will be reflected in your July invoices.

New Nova Scotia Regulations:
All clients who work in Nova Scotia are advised that as of June 12 of this year, Nova Scotia has New Regulations pertaining to Health and Safety. Copies may be obtained from the N.S. Occupational Health and Safety website. Please consult with your Coordinator to ensure you are compliant, they will respond to your questions/concerns. The following are a few points highlighted from the new regulations:

  1. Work at heights over 7.5m will require a site specific plan.
  2. Fall Protection cards will need to be on person/site.
  3. CSA standards to be followed for scaffolding.
  4. Sloped Roof work is gone from the regulations.
  5. Training requirements for Fall Protection are now listed in the regulations.
  6. Health Act now in new regulations (i.e. Vibration, Noise, Ergonomics, respiratory, etc.).
